Special Issue: Selected Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability in the Developing World (AISDW2025)

Description:

The Journal of Applied Science and Technology Trends (JASTT) is pleased to present this Special Issue featuring selected, high-quality papers from the 1st International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability in the Developing World (AISDW2025), held on September 16–17, 2025, at Duhok Polytechnic University, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. The conference was jointly organized by Duhok Polytechnic University, the University of Raparin, Akre University for Applied Science, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

AISDW2025 brought together researchers, scholars, and leading academic scientists from around the world to share and exchange their findings on recent advances in artificial intelligence and its applications for sustainable development. The conference covered a broad range of interdisciplinary tracks, including Machine and Deep Learning for Intelligent Systems, AI for Healthcare and Biomedicine, AI in Business and Industry, AI in Education, AI for Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability, AI for Security and Privacy, AI and Autonomous Vehicles, AI for Smart Cities and Urban Planning, and AI in Agriculture and Food Systems.

The papers published in this Special Issue were carefully selected from among the conference submissions based on their originality, technical merit, and relevance to the scope of JASTT. All papers underwent a rigorous two-round double-blind peer review process managed by the AISDW2025 scientific committee. Following the conference, the accepted papers were further evaluated by the JASTT editorial team to ensure full compliance with the journal's publication standards. Only those manuscripts that successfully passed both rounds of review and met the journal's criteria for scientific quality, methodological rigor, and contribution to the field have been accepted for publication in this issue.

This Special Issue reflects the growing importance of artificial intelligence as a transformative force for addressing sustainability challenges in developing regions and offers a valuable collection of contributions at the intersection of AI, applied science, and technology.
